A festive and refreshing layered jello dessert featuring cold brew coffee, perfect for 4th of July celebrations and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold brew coffee (medium roast recommended)
  • 3 packets (about 21 grams total) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 grams) red jello (strawberry or cherry flavor)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 grams) blue jello (blueberry or raspberry flavor)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk (can substitute coconut condensed milk for dairy-free)
  • Cold water (for dissolving gelatin and mixing jello powders)
  • Optional toppings: fresh blueberries, sliced strawberries, whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Jello Layer: Sprinkle 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) of red jello powder over 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water in a medium bowl. Stir until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Pour evenly into serving cups, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Prepare the Creamy White Layer: Heat 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk with 1 cup (240 ml) cold water in a saucepan until warm but not boiling. Bloom 1 packet (7 grams) unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold water for 5 minutes. Stir bloomed gelatin into warm milk mixture until dissolved. Cool to room temperature but do not set. Gently pour over red jello layer and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  3. Prepare the Blue Jello Layer: Repeat the red jello step using blue jello powder and 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Let cool for 10 minutes. Pour gently over white layer and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight until fully set.
  4. Prepare the Cold Brew Coffee Layer: Bloom 1 packet (7 grams) unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold water for 5 minutes. Warm 1 cup (240 ml) cold brew coffee gently (do not boil). Stir in bloomed gelatin until dissolved. Cool slightly, then carefully pour over blue jello layer. Chill for 1-2 hours until set.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh blueberries, sliced strawberries, or whipped cream just before serving.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing colors. Allow each layer to firm up but remain slightly tacky before adding the next. Use medium roast cold brew for balanced flavor. Prepare a day ahead for best flavor melding. Substitute agar agar for gelatin for vegetarian version, adjusting amounts accordingly.
