A delightful and easy-to-make dessert featuring a lady fingers base, creamy white chocolate mousse, and fresh strawberries assembled in a whimsical dome shape. Perfect for celebrations or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 lady fingers (Savoiardi preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or preserves (optional)
  • 8 ounces white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate (Ghirardelli recommended)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (about 300 grams), hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust based on sweetness of berries)
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Whole strawberries for topping
  • White chocolate shavings or curls (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Let them macerate at room temperature for about 15 minutes until they release their juices.
  2. Choose a dome-shaped bowl or mold, then line it generously with plastic wrap, leaving enough overhang to cover the top later.
  3. Lightly brush each lady finger with strawberry jam (optional) to add moisture and a touch of tartness. Arrange them carefully on the bottom and sides of the lined mold, pressing gently to form an even layer.
  4. Using a double boiler method, melt the white chocolate chips over simmering water, stirring frequently until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly but not harden.
  5. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
  6. Gently fold the melted white chocolate into the whipped cream in batches, mixing carefully to maintain the airy texture.
  7. Spoon a layer of white chocolate cream over the lady fingers base, smoothing it evenly. Add a generous layer of the macerated strawberries, reserving some for garnish. Repeat layering if your mold is deep enough, finishing with a final white chocolate cream layer on top.
  8. Fold the overhanging plastic wrap over the top and refrigerate the dome for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  9. When ready to serve, carefully invert the dome onto a serving plate and peel off the plastic wrap. Decorate the top with whole strawberries and white chocolate shavings.

Notes

Avoid direct heat when melting white chocolate to prevent seizing; use a double boiler or microwave in short bursts. Whip cream to soft peaks only to keep mousse light and airy. Line mold well with plastic wrap for easy unmolding. If lady fingers are dry, dip quickly in strawberry juice or syrup before arranging. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight for best texture.
