This garlic butter baked lobster tail recipe is quick, easy, and perfect for elegant dinners. It delivers tender, juicy lobster with a rich, flavorful garlic butter crust in under 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails (about 68 ounces each) – fresh or thawed frozen
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Using kitchen shears, cut down the top shell of each lobster tail, stopping just before the fin. Gently pry the shell open and lift the meat, laying it on top of the shell.
  3. Pat the lobster meat dry with paper towels.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Brush the garlic butter generously over the lobster meat, reserving a little for basting halfway through baking.
  6. Place the lobster tails in a greased baking dish, arranging them so they are not crowded.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, pulling the dish out halfway through to brush with the remaining garlic butter.
  8. Check for doneness; the meat should be opaque, firm but still juicy, and reach 130°F (54°C) if using a thermometer.
  9. Remove from oven and garnish with chopped parsley.
  10. Serve immediately, optionally squeezing extra lemon juice over the tails.

Notes

Do not overcook lobster tails to avoid rubbery texture. Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Melt butter gently to avoid bitterness. Basting halfway through baking keeps lobster moist and flavorful. Lobster tails can be prepared up to brushing with garlic butter and refrigerated before baking. For dairy-free, substitute butter with ghee or vegan margarine and omit Parmesan if added.
