Fresh Ants on a Log Recipe Easy Cream Cheese and Raisin Faces Snack Ideas

fresh ants on a log recipe - featured image

A playful and easy snack featuring crisp celery sticks filled with creamy cream cheese and topped with sweet raisins arranged as ‘ants’ or faces. Perfect for kids and adults alike, ready in under 10 minutes with no cooking required.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 fresh celery sticks, trimmed and cut into 4– to 5-inch pieces
  • Cream cheese, softened (about 1 to 2 tablespoons per celery stick)
  • Raisins (5 to 7 per celery stick)
  • Optional garnishes: tiny chocolate chips or sunflower seeds for eyes

Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the celery sticks, cutting them into 4- to 5-inch long pieces.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or microwaving for about 10 seconds until spreadable but not melted.
  3. Using a butter knife or spreader, evenly coat the inside groove of each celery stick with a generous layer of cream cheese (about 1 to 2 tablespoons).
  4. Place raisins along the cream cheese in a single line, spacing them like ants marching (5 to 7 raisins per stick). Press down gently so they stick.
  5. Optionally, create faces by clustering raisins on one end of the stick and adding tiny chocolate chips or sunflower seeds as eyes.
  6. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Softening cream cheese to room temperature or microwaving briefly helps spread smoothly without tearing celery. Keep raisins evenly spaced for classic appearance. Serve fresh or refrigerate up to 2 hours. For longer storage, keep celery and cream cheese separate and assemble before serving.
