A vibrant and easy-to-assemble fruit platter arranged to resemble the American flag, perfect for patriotic celebrations like the Fourth of July. Combines fresh strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and mini marshmallows for a colorful, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Fresh blueberries, whole
  • Seedless green grapes, whole
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Fresh banana slices (optional)
  • Fresh raspberries (optional)
  • Fresh blackberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the fruit: rinse strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and any other berries under cold water. Pat dry gently with a kitchen towel to prevent excess moisture.
  2. Slice strawberries lengthwise into thin pieces about 1/4 inch thick. Peel and slice bananas into 1/4 inch thick rounds, preparing these right before assembly to avoid browning.
  3. Separate mini marshmallows and seedless grapes in small bowls for easy access during assembly.
  4. On a large serving platter, place a row of sliced strawberries along one edge to create the first red stripe, about 1.5 inches wide. Next to the strawberries, lay a row of mini marshmallows for the white stripe, then a row of green grapes for the next white stripe. Repeat this alternating pattern until you have 7 stripes total (4 red, 3 white). Press fruit pieces gently but firmly to keep them in place.
  5. In the corner where the red stripes start, fill a roughly 3 x 3 inch square area with a dense cluster of blueberries to create the blue star field.
  6. Fill any gaps between stripes or around edges with additional bananas or marshmallows to make the flag look neat and full. Adjust any uneven rows.

Notes

Use fresh fruit for best results; frozen fruit can be used if thawed and drained well. Slice bananas just before assembly to avoid browning. A light dab of cream cheese or yogurt under blueberries can help anchor them. Refrigerate assembled platter for 15-20 minutes before serving. Store loosely covered in refrigerator and consume within 24 hours.
