A quick and easy pull-apart bread recipe combining spicy pepperoni, melty mozzarella, and a sweet hot honey drizzle for a crowd-pleasing, cheesy snack.

  • 1 large round sourdough or Italian bread (about 12 inches diameter)
  • 1 cup thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme mix)
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey (store-bought or homemade by infusing honey with chili flakes)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using a serrated knife, slice the loaf into a grid pattern about 1 inch apart vertically and horizontally, cutting about ¾ of the way through but not all the way to the bottom crust.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, and dried Italian herbs; stir well.
  4. Carefully separate the bread pieces slightly and brush the buttery mixture generously between the slices using a pastry brush.
  5. Tuck pepperoni slices, shredded mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese into every gap between the bread slices.
  6. Sprinkle red pepper flakes between some sections if extra heat is desired.
  7. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bread edges are golden and crisp.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes, then drizzle hot honey liberally over the top.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

If bread browns too fast before cheese melts, tent loosely with foil halfway through baking. Warm thick honey slightly before drizzling for easier pouring. Use a serrated knife to avoid squashing the loaf. Let bread rest a few minutes after baking for easier pulling apart. For gluten-free, use gluten-free bread; for dairy-free, substitute vegan cheese and coconut oil for butter.
