These Firecracker Jello Shots with Pop Rocks are a quick, easy, and festive party treat that combines the classic jello shot with a playful fizz and crackle from Pop Rocks candy. Perfect for celebrations and last-minute gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 oz (85 g) Jello mix (red or blue flavor)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold vodka (or rum, tequila, or half vodka and half water for milder shots)
  • About 2 packs (0.25 oz each) Pop Rocks candy (berry flavor recommended)
  • About 20 small plastic or silicone shot cups (2 oz / 60 ml each)

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Pour the 3 oz (85 g) jello mix into a medium heatproof bowl.
  3. Slowly add the boiling water while stirring constantly to dissolve the powder completely, about 2 minutes, until smooth and clear.
  4. Stir in 1 cup (240 ml) of cold vodka until fully combined.
  5. Carefully ladle the liquid into about 20 small plastic shot cups, each holding roughly 2 oz (60 ml).
  6. Place the tray of shots flat in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set and firm to the touch.
  7. Just before serving, sprinkle a small pinch of Pop Rocks on top of each shot to add fizz and crackle.
  8. Serve chilled immediately for maximum pop and fizz.

Notes

Use boiling water to dissolve gelatin fully for smooth texture. Add Pop Rocks only just before serving to maintain fizz. For softer shots, reduce jello mix to 2.5 oz. Store Pop Rocks in airtight container to keep fizz. Non-alcoholic versions can be made with sparkling water or soda. Vegan option available using agar-agar powder instead of gelatin.
