Easy Mummy Hot Dog Crescent Bites Recipe with Honey Mustard Eyes

mummy hot dog crescent bites - featured image

A quick and fun Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with tangy honey mustard eyes for a playful twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Hot dogs (regular or beef, about 8)
  • 1 can crescent roll dough (8 ounces / 226 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon honey mustard
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for texture
  • Optional: cheese slices for inside the dough
  • Optional: garlic powder or smoked paprika for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and slice into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving a small gap near one end for the ‘face’. Overlap strips slightly for a mummy look, but do not wrap too tightly.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is puffed and golden brown, checking around 10-12 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Use a small spoon or toothpick to dot two small honey mustard ‘eyes’ on the exposed hot dog face area.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with extra honey mustard for dipping.

Notes

Keep dough chilled until slicing to prevent stickiness. Wrap dough loosely to allow puffing. Add honey mustard eyes after baking to keep flavor fresh. For a cheesy surprise, add a slice of cheese inside before wrapping. Avoid microwaving leftovers to maintain dough crispiness.
