A simple and delicious pumpkin spice syrup made with brown sugar, pure maple syrup, and warm spices, perfect for enhancing your coffee with cozy fall flavors any time of year.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (200 grams) packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon) salt

Instructions

  1. In your saucepan, add 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, ½ cup (120 ml) pure maple syrup, and 1 cup (240 ml) water. Give it a gentle whisk just to start dissolving the sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture comes to a gentle simmer, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice and a pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon) of salt. Keep stirring for another 2 minutes to infuse the spices.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let the syrup simmer gently for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and silky.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  6. Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if desired, then pour into a clean jar or bottle. Seal and refrigerate.
  7. Use 1 to 2 tablespoons in your favorite coffee or latte, adjusting to taste.

Notes

Keep stirring during simmering to prevent burning. Use real maple syrup for best flavor. Store refrigerated up to two weeks. Warm gently before use if syrup thickens. Adjust spice levels to taste. Can substitute water with brewed black coffee for more coffee flavor.
