A warm, gooey dip with classic cheeseburger flavors served in a crusty sourdough bread bowl, perfect for parties and cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (450 g)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (225 g)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (100 g)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (60 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup pickles, finely chopped (dill preferred)
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 large round sourdough bread bowl
  • Optional: 1 small jalapeño, diced
  • Optional: 1/2 cup bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until no pink remains and beef is browned, about 7-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Season beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for another minute, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  5. Fold the cooked ground beef into the cheese mixture. Add chopped pickles and mix gently. If using, fold in jalapeños and bacon bits.
  6. Using a serrated knife, cut a circle around the top of the sourdough bread bowl. Remove the lid and hollow out the inside, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell.
  7. Spoon the cheeseburger dip mixture into the hollowed bread bowl, pressing gently to pack it in without overfilling.
  8. Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until the dip is bubbly and cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven and sprinkle sliced green onions on top. Serve immediately with the bread bowl lid and extra bread slices for dipping.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for smooth texture. Hollow bread bowl leaving 1-inch thick shell to prevent leaks. Add a splash of milk or extra mayonnaise if dip seems dry before baking. Tent with foil if bread browns too quickly. Can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for lighter option. For vegetarian, use lentils or plant-based crumbles. Bread bowl can be replaced with boule or served with gluten-free crackers for gluten-free option. Leftover dip can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated in oven.
