These colorful, crispy fruit twists combine flaky puff pastry with a vibrant rainbow of fruit fillings, perfect for kids’ parties and quick snacks. They offer a nostalgic, fun treat that’s easy to make and loved by all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed (recommend Pepperidge Farm for best flakiness)
  • ¾ cup mixed fruit puree or jam (strawberry, blueberry, mango, kiwi, raspberry, assorted flavors)
  • Optional: fresh fruit thinly sliced (strawberries, kiwi, mango, blueberries, or any colorful fruits)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated or coarse sanding sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. If using fresh fruit, place about 1 cup chopped mixed fruit in a small saucepan with lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened (5-7 minutes). Let cool completely. Skip this step if using fruit purees or jams.
  3. Unfold puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Roll gently if needed to smooth creases and get uniform thickness.
  4. Spread fruit filling evenly over one sheet of puff pastry, leaving a ½-inch border around edges.
  5. Place second puff pastry sheet on top, pressing gently along edges to seal layers.
  6. Cut stacked pastry into 1-inch wide strips lengthwise using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  7. Twist each strip several times to create twist shapes and place spaced apart on prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush each twist with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, rotating baking sheet halfway through.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold to maintain flakiness. If using fresh fruit, cook and thicken filling to prevent sogginess. Chill twists before baking to help hold shape. Don’t skip egg wash for best golden finish. Store leftovers in airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days or freeze up to 1 month. Reheat in oven to restore crispness.
