  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) grape-flavored gelatin mix
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold vodka or lemon-lime soda (non-alcoholic option)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) lime-flavored gelatin mix
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold tequila or sparkling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold gold-colored liqueur such as Grand Marnier or spiced rum
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey or simple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Purple Layer: In a bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the grape gelatin mix. Stir until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add ½ cup cold vodka or lemon-lime soda and mix gently. Pour evenly into small cups, filling each about one-third full.
  2. Set the Purple Layer: Place the cups in the fridge on a flat surface. Chill for 30–40 minutes or until firm but slightly tacky to the touch.
  3. Prepare the Green Layer: Repeat the process with the lime gelatin mix and boiling water. Stir until dissolved, then add ½ cup cold tequila or sparkling water.
  4. Add the Green Layer: Carefully spoon or gently pour the green gelatin over the purple layer. Fill each cup about two-thirds full. Return to the fridge and chill for another 30–40 minutes until set.
  5. Prepare the Gold Layer: Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over ½ cup cold water and let it bloom for 5 minutes. Heat ½ cup boiling water and stir the bloomed gelatin into it until dissolved. Stir in honey or simple syrup and ½ cup gold liqueur.
  6. Finish with the Gold Layer: Gently pour the gold gelatin mixture over the green layer, filling the cups to the top. Chill for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
  7. Serve: Once firm, serve chilled. Optionally, garnish with tiny edible gold stars or a twist of lime zest.

Notes

Do not rush chill times to prevent layers from mixing. Use room temperature spirits or soda to avoid premature setting. Pour gently over the back of a spoon to keep layers intact. Alcohol amount should be moderate to ensure gelatin sets properly. For vegan version, substitute gelatin with agar-agar and honey with agave nectar.
