A festive and flavorful sangria featuring apple cider, red wine, warm spices, and fresh fruit—perfect for Halloween gatherings or cozy fall nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups (710 ml) apple cider
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) brandy (apple brandy or regular brandy)
  • 2 apples, sliced thinly
  • 1 orange, sliced thinly
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 34 whole cloves
  • 23 tablespoons (3045 ml) maple syrup
  • 1 cup (240 ml) club soda (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine apple cider, red wine, and brandy.
  2. Slice apples and orange into thin wedges. Add the fruit to the pitcher along with cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  3. Sweeten the sangria with maple syrup, adjusting to taste. Stir well to combine.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
  5. If desired, add club soda just before serving for a fizzy sangria.
  6. Serve chilled, garnished with additional apple slices or a cinnamon stick in each glass.

Notes

Let the sangria rest overnight for the best flavor. Adjust the sweetness with maple syrup to taste, and use dry red wine to balance the apple cider.
