An elegant yet simple recipe for perfectly cooked lobster tails with a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for special occasions or a treat-yourself night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails (46 ounces each, fresh or thawed if frozen)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, freshly minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lemon (juice and wedges for serving)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven: Set the broiler to high and position the oven rack about 6-8 inches from the heating element.
  2. Prepare the lobster tails: Using sharp kitchen scissors, carefully cut through the top shell of each lobster tail, stopping at the base. Gently pull the shell apart and lift the lobster meat over the shell, leaving it attached at the base.
  3. Season the lobster tails: Place the prepped lobster tails on a baking sheet. Brush them lightly with olive oil and season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  4. Make the garlic butter: In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Remove from heat and add the chopped parsley and lemon juice.
  5. Baste the lobster tails: Generously brush the garlic butter mixture over the lobster meat, ensuring every crevice is coated.
  6. Broil the lobster tails: Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the lobster meat is opaque and slightly browned on top.
  7. Serve: Remove the lobster tails from the oven and immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over them. Serve with additional garlic butter sauce and lemon wedges.

Notes

[‘Cutting the shells can be tricky, so take your time and use sharp scissors for clean cuts.’, ‘Lobster meat becomes rubbery if overdone. Keep an eye on it and remove from the oven as soon as it turns opaque.’, ‘Cooking the garlic in butter for a minute brings out its sweetness and prevents bitterness.’, ‘Fresh garlic and lemon make a huge difference in flavor—don’t skimp!’, ‘Insert a fork into the thickest part of the lobster meat; it should flake easily and feel tender.’]
