These soup dumplings are packed with the cozy, savory flavors of a classic turkey dinner, encased in delicate wrappers with a warm broth that bursts forth with each bite.

Ingredients

  • Shredded cooked turkey (dark or white meat)
  • Rich turkey broth
  • Unflavored gelatin
  • Diced carrots
  • Diced celery
  • Diced onions
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried thyme
  • Pinch of sage
  • Round dumpling or wonton wrappers
  • Butter
  • Flour or cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, simmer the turkey broth with gelatin until fully dissolved. Let it cool completely in the refrigerator until it sets into a soft gel.
  2. Make the Filling: Heat a small amount of butter in a pan over medium heat. Sauté diced carrots, celery, and onions until softened. Add shredded turkey, season with salt, pepper, thyme, and sage, and mix well. Let the filling cool.
  3. Assemble the Dumplings: Place a dumpling wrapper on a lightly floured surface. Add a small spoonful of the turkey filling and a cube of gelatinized broth. Carefully fold the wrapper, pleating the edges to seal the dumpling securely.
  4. Steam the Dumplings: Arrange dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, until the wrappers are translucent and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Carefully transfer the dumplings to a serving plate and enjoy them hot with soy sauce or vinegar dipping sauce.

Notes

Make sure the gelatinized broth is firm and cold before adding it to the dumplings. Avoid overfilling the wrappers to prevent leaks. Keep unused wrappers covered with a damp towel while assembling.
