A cheesy, hearty stuffing recipe combining the bold flavors of pizza rolls with the cozy familiarity of holiday stuffing. Perfect for festive gatherings or casual dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Frozen pizza rolls (pepperoni and cheese recommended)
  • 4 cups day-old bread cubes (mix of white and whole wheat)
  • Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarians)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease your baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Pour the chicken broth over the bread mixture, stirring until the cubes are moistened but not soggy. Add more broth if needed.
  5. Stir in the grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  6. Cut the pizza rolls into halves or quarters, depending on their size, and gently fold them into the stuffing mixture.
  7. Transfer the stuffing mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

[‘Don’t skip sautéing the onion and celery for added flavor.’, ‘Add broth gradually to avoid soggy stuffing.’, ‘For a crunchier top layer, use a broiler for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.’, ‘Experiment with different pizza roll flavors for variety.’, ‘Use freshly shredded mozzarella for maximum meltiness.’]
