Pickle Christmas Tree Appetizer - featured image

A festive and fun holiday appetizer featuring stacked pickles, cream cheese, and creative decorations to resemble a Christmas tree.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 whole dill pickles, sliced into rounds
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 56 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
  • Toothpicks
  • Optional toppings: crushed pretzels, sesame seeds, or paprika

Instructions

  1. Slice the pickles into rounds about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Place the cream cheese into a mixing bowl and let it soften at room temperature. Stir until smooth.
  3. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star out of the slice of cheddar cheese. Set it aside.
  4. Start with the largest pickle slices for the bottom layer and lay them flat on your serving plate.
  5. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese over each pickle slice using a small spatula or spoon.
  6. Gradually layer smaller pickle slices on top, alternating with cream cheese. Use toothpicks as needed to stabilize the stack.
  7. Place cherry tomato halves and sprigs of parsley or dill around the tree. Sprinkle crushed pretzels or sesame seeds for extra flair.
  8. Use a toothpick to secure the cheddar cheese star at the top of the tree.
  9. Refrigerate the pickle tree for 10-15 minutes to set the cream cheese and firm up the structure.

Notes

[‘Choose firm pickles for easier stacking.’, ‘Softened cream cheese spreads more easily without breaking the pickle slices.’, ‘Use extra toothpicks if the stack feels wobbly.’, ‘Experiment with different cream cheese flavors or toppings for customization.’, ‘Keep ingredients cool for easier assembly.’]
