A crispy, golden egg roll filled with gooey pecan pie filling, combining the classic flavors of pecan pie with the satisfying crunch of egg rolls for a unique dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Egg roll wrappers
  • 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Stir until well mixed and gooey.
  2. Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface. Place 2 tablespoons of the pecan filling in the center of the wrapper.
  3. Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll the wrapper tightly into a log shape, leaving the top corner exposed.
  4. Brush the top corner with the beaten egg, then press to seal the egg roll completely.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling, placing finished rolls on a plate or tray.
  6. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the egg rolls into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding.
  7. Fry the egg rolls for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy. Use tongs to flip them halfway through.
  8. Remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. While still warm, dust the egg rolls lightly with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.

Notes

Seal the egg rolls tightly with egg wash to prevent filling leaks. Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for consistent frying results. Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
