  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, softened butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Set aside to cool.
  3. Beat the cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
  4. Toss the diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture on top of the cheesecake layer.
  5. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cheesecake layer is set. The edges will be slightly golden, and the center should jiggle just a bit.
  6. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for about an hour, then transfer to the fridge to chill for at least 2 hours before slicing.
