A unique twist on traditional cranberry sauce, combining tart cranberries with chewy boba pearls for a festive and flavorful dish perfect for the holiday table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup cooked tapioca pearls (boba pearls)
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, water, sugar, orange zest, and the cinnamon stick. Cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  2. While the cranberries cook, boil the boba pearls according to the package instructions (usually about 5-7 minutes). Drain them and rinse with cool water to remove excess starch.
  3. Once the cranberry sauce has thickened, remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the cooked boba pearls. Let the mixture simmer for 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  4. Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract for a final touch of sweetness.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before serving. It will thicken slightly as it cools.

Notes

[‘Don’t overcook the boba pearls to avoid them turning mushy.’, ‘Taste the cranberry sauce as it cooks and adjust the sweetness to your preference.’, ‘If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water or orange juice to loosen it up.’, ‘Cook the boba pearls just before adding them to the sauce for the best texture.’]
