A creative twist on classic apple pie, these handheld Apple Pie Tacos feature crispy cinnamon-sugar shells filled with warm, gooey spiced apples. Perfect for parties or family gatherings!

Ingredients

  • Small flour tortillas
  • Unsalted butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
  • Brown sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Lemon juice
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, crushed nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Mold tortillas into taco shapes using oven-safe bowls or a taco rack. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crisp.
  2. Peel, core, and dice apples into small cubes. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir and cook for 8-10 minutes until apples are tender.
  3. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Add slurry to apple mixture, stirring until filling thickens and becomes glossy (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat.
  4. Once taco shells are cooled, spoon warm apple filling into each shell generously.
  5. Top each taco with whipped cream, caramel sauce, or vanilla ice cream. Sprinkle crushed nuts or additional cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Granny Smith apples are ideal for their tart flavor and firm texture. Prepare the apple filling up to 2 days in advance and store in the fridge. Use gluten-free tortillas for a gluten-free option.
