Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant cookies & cream pudding mix (or substitute with chocolate or vanilla pudding)
  • 4 cups cold milk (whole milk preferred, but low-fat works)
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 20 chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
  • Gummy worms
  • Candy bones or eyeballs (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the cookies & cream pudding mix with 2 cups cold milk until smooth and thickened. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin or heavy pan until you have fine crumbs with some chunky pieces.
  4. Gently fold half (about 4 oz) of the whipped topping into each pudding bowl until just combined and fluffy.
  5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of crushed cookies into the bottom of each clear cup.
  6. Add a layer of chocolate pudding mixture (about 1/4 cup), then sprinkle with mini chocolate chips if using.
  7. Add a layer of cookies & cream pudding mixture (about 1/4 cup), followed by another sprinkle of crushed cookies.
  8. Repeat layers if desired, ending with a generous layer of crushed cookies on top.
  9. Press gummy worms into the top “dirt” layer and decorate with candy bones, eyeballs, or Halloween sprinkles as desired.
  10. Refrigerate the cups for at least 1 hour before serving. Add gummy worms and candies just before serving for best texture.

Notes

For gluten-free, use gluten-free sandwich cookies. For dairy-free, use plant-based milk and non-dairy whipped topping. Add gummy worms and candy decorations just before serving to keep them fresh. Use clear cups for best presentation. Layers can be customized with different pudding flavors or toppings.
