Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Sour cream
  • Mini bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Spread the refried beans evenly in the bottom of your serving dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cream cheese, and taco seasoning until smooth. Spread this mixture over the beans.
  3. Layer the salsa over the cream mixture, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and black olives. Cover and refrigerate while you prepare the chips.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Cut flour tortillas into tombstone shapes using a knife or cookie cutter.
  7. Arrange the tortilla shapes on a baking sheet, then brush lightly with olive oil.
  8. Sprinkle with chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until crisp and golden.
  9. Arrange the tombstone chips upright in the taco dip to mimic gravestones.
  10. Use fresh cilantro to create ‘grass’ around the tombstones.
  11. Pipe sour cream into spooky shapes like ghosts or spiderwebs on the surface of the dip.
  12. Add mini bell pepper ‘pumpkins’ for an extra festive touch.

Notes

[‘Refrigerate the dip to keep layers sturdy for decorating.’, ‘Ensure tortilla chips are fully baked for a satisfying crunch.’, ‘Decorate just before serving for the freshest look.’, ‘Use a piping bag or zip-top bag for precise sour cream designs.’]
