Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups (320g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate-dipped pretzels
  • ½ cup heart-shaped sprinkles
  • Strawberry glaze:
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh strawberry puree (or store-bought jam thinned with water)
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows
  • About 1 cup assorted fresh berries (optional)
  • ½ cup red and pink candy melts, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup (227g) softened unsalted butter with ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar and ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add 2 large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 ½ cups (320g) all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  6. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out dough to about ¼-inch (6mm) thickness. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut shapes and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges just start to turn golden. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Prepare strawberry glaze by whisking 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons fresh strawberry puree and 1-2 tablespoons milk until smooth and pourable.
  9. Decorate cooled cookies by drizzling glaze or dipping edges into melted candy melts. Sprinkle with heart-shaped sprinkles and chocolate-dipped pretzels.
  10. Arrange decorated cookies, pretzels, mini marshmallows, and fresh berries artfully on a serving board.

Notes

If dough feels sticky, chill for 15 minutes before rolling. Use softened butter, not melted, for best texture. Avoid overmixing after adding flour to keep cookies tender. Let cookies cool completely before decorating to prevent melting sprinkles. Adjust milk in glaze for desired consistency. Store leftovers in airtight container up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months.
