These charming chocolate-dipped strawberry heart toppers are easy homemade treats perfect for special occasions. Juicy strawberries are shaped into hearts, dipped in glossy chocolate, and decorated for a festive, crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large fresh strawberries (about 300g)
  • 1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup (1.5 oz) white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzle)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
  • Toothpicks or small skewers
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry strawberries thoroughly. Remove green tops and slice each berry in half lengthwise.
  2. Carve a small ‘V’ at the top of each half to create a heart shape. Pat dry with a paper towel if juicy.
  3. Pair two similar-sized halves together, placing cut sides flat to form a heart. Insert a toothpick or skewer to hold them together. Repeat for all strawberries.
  4. Combine semisweet chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth and glossy (about 1 minute total).
  5. Hold each strawberry heart by the toothpick and dip into melted chocolate, covering about 2/3 of the shape. Let excess chocolate drip off, then set on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. If desired, melt white chocolate chips in a small bowl (microwave for 30 seconds, stir until smooth). Drizzle over dipped hearts and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter.
  7. Refrigerate baking sheet for 15–20 minutes, or until chocolate is firm. Remove toothpicks gently before serving, or leave them in for toppers.
  8. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Notes

Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping for best chocolate adhesion. Use dairy-free chocolate for vegan/dairy-free adaptation. Customize decorations for any occasion. If chocolate thickens, add a splash of coconut oil and reheat gently. For nut allergies, skip nut toppings and check labels on chocolate and sprinkles.
